Well, after a whistlestop tour we leave this amazing area tomorrow and fly off to Singapore. I hope to come back to talk more about the places that we have visited and the things that we have seen. For now just some brief memories.
The people, there are lots of them, particularly in Vietnam. A population at the end of the war of 40 million has grown to 84million. A lot of young people. The charming way in which the people that we have met have interacted with us; courtesy and time taken makes such a difference. Wonderful smiles.
The poverty of so many, particularly in Cambodia. Yet we have been staying in luxury.
The noise of the motorbikes and scooters - over 40 million in Vietnam.
The food, what a range of fruit and vegetables. Vietnamese food is very subtle, not heavily spiced like food from Laos and Thailand.
The history and culture, so many beautiful buildings capped today by Angkor Wat which is definitely one of the 7 Wonders of the World.
We finish this evening with a meal for all the members of our group and our guide Harry.

Dear Phil & Fogg
Lovely to read your news and know you are both safe and well and have met such interesting people, and seem to be learning such a lot! We have Stella & Ellis for a meal tomorrow evening and will show them your blog. Further to DaveW's news, MRS are now out of special measures to the relief of all. Busy weekend for us with daughter and family from Thornbury with us. Nice not to have to rush Monday morning after their visit. We have been decorating (ashamed after visit to S & J's with you and seeing their lovely room!) and have bought ourselves a new TV to replace our ancient model. Spent some time trying to fit up old video machine to match it, (so as not to lose all those good old films) which we eventually managed, and will also be moving into the modern age with a DVD player/recorder. All shops here overwhelmed with Christmas gear and normal food and drink difficult to find in usual places. We are having Christmas at home for the first time for years, French daughter and family plus her in-laws coming too. Off to Nice for New Year, then the Alps for January.

Dear P & F
Caught up with your travel news at Jenny and Serge's, after meal together. It seems Cox and Kings have done you proud, I do hope so! I am green with envy at what you have experienced so far. Jenny and I don't know where the time goes - maybe something to do with the fact that we get up at 9.30+? Ellis and I are off to the Tutankhamun exhibition tomorrow at the Dome, know called O2. Sadly not seeing this in Egypt as yet. Look forward to hearing further news.
Love Stella and Ellis
